At the 5th World Health Tourism Council General Assembly, which took place in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, with the offline and online participation of 58 countries, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was elected as the vice president country for the third time and announced that it will be a candidate for the presidency next year.
According to the statement made by the Council, at the World Health Tourism General Assembly held in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, which holds the rotating presidency of the World Health Tourism Council with the participation of 58 countries this year, Turkey, Germany, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, India, the United Arab Emirates-Dubai, Kuwait, the Philippines, Malaysia, TRNC Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu was elected as the Chairman of the High Advisory Board, Dr. Miljenko Bura, who also served as Deputy Minister of Health of Croatia, was elected as the Term President, and Dr. Ahmet Savaşan was elected as Vice President.

The statement said that the General Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Emin Çakmak, the Founding President of the Council, and that professionals from 30 countries including Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, Croatia, India, the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Northern Cyprus, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Ukraine, Jordan, Greece will serve on the Executive, High Advisory and Audit Boards.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan stated that the present and future of Health Tourism and the activities that the council can realize in the next year were evaluated at the general assembly meeting and underlined that Turkey and Founding President Emin Çakmak played a decisive role in the acceptance of TRNC to the council and its election as a Vice President Country for the third time.

Emphasizing that Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Tourism and Environment, has had significant support and contribution in achieving this international success, Ahmet Savaşan stated that their aim is to bring the Presidency of the World Health Tourism Council to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Savaşan pointed out that in this way, the international cooperation that has been carried out in the field of health tourism for years will be carried to a much higher level and the tourism revenues in Northern Cyprus will be diversified and increased.
